“The Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange” – September 15, 2011
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Hamilton Gallery at 615 East Las Olas Boulevard will be hosting the Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange (GLBX) After Hours Networking event on Thursday, September 22nd from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. GLBX is a Council of The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Exchange events are free for members.
“We plan our socials at various member’s businesses so we can enjoy a variety of venues and also give everyone the opportunity to learn first hand about that member’s business,” said Julian Cavazos, GLBX Chair. “We’re looking forward to meeting at Janice Hamilton’s Gallery.”
Joining Hamilton Gallery as a sponsor is Lynn McAmis of RBC Wealth Management. “All of us at RBC Wealth Management are pleased and excited to be a co-sponsor of GLBX/After Hours along with The Hamilton Gallery! As wealth managers, a big part of our business is about forging strong relationships with others, so this event is a perfect fit for us!,” Ms. McAmis said.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is the first Chamber in the state of Florida and one of the first in the nation to recognize the LGBT community as a major component of their membership. “The contributions of the Gay and Lesbian Community within our city and surrounding area is major driver to our local economy. As the mission of the Chamber is to drive economic growth for the Greater Fort Lauderdale community, it was recognized that the Gay and Lesbian Community needed to be included in a manner to unite and connect, giving an inclusive voice to continue to attract new Gay and Lesbian businesses,” Mr. Cavazos explained.
GLBX originated as the Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange and formally became a council in late 2010, shortly before our two year anniversary. Growth of the membership to 150 members in less than two years was a milestone on their road to success.
For nearly 15 years, Hamilton Fine Art and Auction has been a leader in the fine art and fundraising art auction industry. “We have helped thousands of schools, churches, synagogues, civic organizations, national foundations, clubs and other non-profit organizations raise millions of dollars by providing fun, entertaining and profitable fundraising art auction events,” Janice explained. “We put the FUN back into fundraising, customizing each event for charity organizations at their chosen venue. Now we are able to host fundraising auctions at our own gallery.”
